A quick and dirty set of alternate rules for Dragonbane, which I either use or have used at my own table for awhile.

  • Point-buy Attribute Generation: A quick non-random method of Attribute generation for those that dislike rolling stats.
  • Goal-oriented Advancement: A simple system to both incentivize player agency and proactive play as well as to answer the question of "how to players get more Heroic Abilities?"
  • Phase-based Initiative: Not one I currently use, but have, for folks who dislike the cards, playing on a non-supported VTT, or just wanting to do something different.

New in version 2!

  • Alternative Armor and Magic rules: Instead of prohibiting using metal, this rule just makes it extremely expensive to do so.
  • Alternate Magic Costs: This rule actually makes a spell's rank have some sort of meaning, and gives casting a bit more granularity in terms of costs.
  • Slightly Tougher Characters: A very minor change that gives a small buff to both HP and WP, helpful for easing new players in who come from less tactical systems.
  • Abstract Distances: This new rule designates bands of abstract distance for a more theater of the mind approach to combat. Paris well with Phase Based Initiative.

New in Version 3!

  • Reduced Starting Skills: An alternative chart that starts characters off just a bit lower, giving them more room to grow.
  • Age-Based Starting Skills: An alternative that tries to solve the same problem, but tying it to the character's starting age, instead.
  • More Dangerous Monsters: Instead of starting the characters a little lower in skills, make the monsters a little more difficult by allowing Ferocity to also give characters penalties to their attacks.
  • Alternate Human Ability: A different take on humans, seeing them as more tenacious than others, performing their best in the face of adversity.
  • Alternative Random Attribute Generation: A small tweak to the standard method of character creation, automatically assigning the highest roll to the profession's Key Attribute.

Much like the core rules, each of these is very short and leaves the GM room to adjudicate the details as best fits their table. This game is not affiliated with, sponsored, or endorsed by Fria Ligan AB. This Supplement was created under Fria Ligan AB’s Dragonbane Third Party Supplement License.
